The Characters of Biff and Happy in Death of a Salesman No one has a perfect life; everyone has conflicts that they must face sooner or later. The ways in which people deal with these personal conflicts can differ as much as the people themselves. Some insist on ignoring the problem for as long as possible, while others face up to the problem immediately to get it out of the way. Biff and Happy Loman are good examples of this, although both start from the same point, they end up going in different directions with Happy still living in his world of lies and Biff, being set free by the truth. Happy Loman is Willy's youngest son and is often over shadowed by his older brother Biff and ignored by his parents. As a result of growing up in Biff's shadow, Happy was always striving for Willy's attention, but never really got it. This is shown when the young Happy is always telling his father "I'm losing weight, you notice, Pop?" The need for attention continues as an adult, but Willy and Linda continue to brush Happy off in much the same way they did when he was younger Happy: "I'm gonna get married, Mom. I wanted to tell you." Linda: "Go to sleep, dear." Due to his being over shadowed by his elder brother Happy has grown up to be a stunted version of Willy's vision of the American Dream. Because of this it is difficult to identify with him; throughout the play he is presented as a one-dimensional character. Although Happy grows up to become more financially successful than his older brother, he lacks even a spark of self-knowledge or capacity for self-analysis. He does however share his father's capacity for self-delusion, declaring himself as the assistant buyer at his store, when, in reality, he is only one of the assistants to the assistant buyer. Biff: "You big blow, are you the assistant buyer? You're one of the two assistants to the assistant, aren't you?" Happy: Well I'm practically- Biff: You're practically full of it!" During Willy's funeral, Happy makes an empty vow, declaring that his father's death would not be in vain, as he was going to realise Willy's dream.

Gun control is a very big issue in the United States today. Many people don't agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns away from law-abiding citizens. Many people have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns are not very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection. The second amendment states "the right to bear arms" does this grant everyone a right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for a good guy to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea. Gun control only takes guns away from law- abiding citizens and it does nothing to stop criminals from buying illegal guns, who are unlikely to obey the law and register their guns (Long 45). In many cases the term gun control is improperly used. The definition of gun control is; government regulation of possession and use of firearms by private citizens (Zimring 23). The government is using it as way to take our right to bear arms. There are many reasons that people want to own a gun. One of the main reasons that people own a gun is protection. In a survey given about guns, " self defense" was the primary reason for owning a gun (Nisbet 114). Guns provide a great source of psychological reassurance even among citizens who are not especially concerned about the fear of crime of being victimized (Long 53). The right of self-defense and the right to use firearms for defense of self and family are the cornerstone of individual rights enumerated in the U.S. constitution (Nisbet 89). Why does the government ... ...r when they own a gun. The second amendment clearly states "the right to bear arms" doesn't let the government try to change that. Don't let gun control laws fool the public, because they have not been proven to reduce crime at all. So go out and buy a gun before that right is taken away. My Ideal Friend †Low Essay

My ideal friend is Frank. I’m sure Frank is my ideal friend because we have been friends for many years already. Since we were kids, Frank has always been there when I fell down from my bicycle, when I was scolded by my parents, and helped me chase away dogs that were chasing me whenever we walked to school. One day, when I was walking to school together with Frank, we were attacked by 2 stray dogs. Frank took a stick and hit one of the dogs on the nose and the other dog on its leg. I was afraid of dogs but Frank was brave. He was afraid too but he wanted to make sure that his friend was protected. I am not as brave as Frank and thanks to him, I learned that we have to be brave even though we are afraid of something. When I was in school, I was always being bullied by others because I was small. There was a boy called Rino that will always take my money and I did not tell anyone about this. Rino was much bigger than me and I was afraid he would beat me if I told anyone that he took my money. After 2 years, Frank saw Rino taking my money behind an empty class during recess and he pushed him away from me. He told him that if he saw him doing it again, he would tell the Principal about this. Since then, Rino never bullied me and my life in school became better. Now that we’re already seniors in this school, both Frank and I are involved in many activities and study groups. I managed to have many friends because of him and he has taught me many things about our subjects and school activities. I have become a better leader because of him and I have learned many skills from entering sports activities like hockey and rugby. Together, we managed to be selected for the state team and represented Sabah for hockey and played together in Kuala Lumpur. This is how Frank has improved me as an individual. All in all, Frank has never left my side and is still my best friend today. His character and attitude has made him an ideal friend to me. I will never have another friend like Frank and I admire his morals and how he always stands up for his friends even when he is scared. The purpose of this experiment was to observe the process in which cells must partake in a respiration process called anaerobic fermentation and as the name suggests, oxygen is not required. This particular procedure, which Is catabolic meaning, it breaks down energy, can be present In to types of fermentation; alcohol In yeast or lactic acid in muscles. This Is a continued reaction from glycoside, where glucose Is broken down Into three carbon sugars.The products of alcohol fermentation are ethanol and carbon dioxide and the products produced by lactic acid fermentation is lactate. As we observed the effects of yeast fermentation, It Is Imperative to know that yeast makes energy through fermentation. Yeast fermentation was combined with several different saccharine such as glucose, sucrose, starch, and fructose. Dolled water was also included In this experiment as another variable. The control was simply a vial of yeast and distilled water at room temperature.Each vial was filled co mpletely with the mixture (the solution was composed of individual saccharine and water) and then the gap was measure in 2 minute increments. The spectrometer was set at a 600 mm absorbency and each vial was measure, once again, in every two minute intervals. The purpose of this experiment was to better understand the logistics behind the fermentation process. In tube one, the succinctness was fumigated. The second tube differed in the fact that there was boiled water, which is not a suitable living indention for yeast, and therefore the enzyme was denatured.There was no carbon dioxide produced when mixed with boiled water but without that variable's presence, there was a greater amount of carbon emission. Tube three had an added inhibitor so therefore the rate of reaction was considered slow which can be observed in figure 1-1 . Adding the inhibitor meant that the enzyme was occupied and not in absorbency.
